Human Resources Generalist

We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support HR practices and objectives that ensure quality, productivity, and the ongoing development of the Lane Press workforce. Shift: Typically 8-5 but fluctuates depending on needs within department. Pay rate: Commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties on a professional level in partnership with department managers, employees, and senior HR management.
  • Carry out responsibilities in the following primary functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, entry-level recruitment, HRIS system management, workers compensation, and self-insured short-term disability plan administration.
  • Assist in managing company wellness initiatives, safety, employee activities, and event planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree combined with at least five years of Human Resources experience
  • Intermediate understanding of HR compliance and regulatory mandates
  • Benefit administration experience
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with all employees and managers at all levels
  • Flexibility and willingness to work outside of normal business hours
  • Knowledge of and experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Desire and ability to achieve SHRM- CP

Material Handler

We are seeking a Material Handler to transition and stage material to bindery machines according to production schedules. Shift: 11pm-7am. Pay rate: Commensurate with experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor production sheets and bindery schedules to ensure correct product is delivered to the appropriate line.
  • Maintain a steady flow of consumable product at bindery production machines to enable maximum output.
  • Return unused product to inventory department.
  • Replenish, on demand, product, pallets, cartons, end boards, etc. to appropriate line(s).
  • Feed baling/shredding machine.

Qualifications:

  • Lift truck operation experience with strong focus on safety and efficiency
  • Strong work ethic
  • Assertive with the ability to prioritize
  • Prior warehouse experience preferred

Bindery Production Crew - All Shifts

We are seeking a team member to work on our bindery production line, performing tasks to complete magazine binding and prepare finished magazines for shipping. This is a fun, fast-paced, and active role – your shift will go by quickly! This is an entry-level position, requiring a positive outlook and the ability to work as part of a team. Openings available on all shifts:
1st Shift: 7am-3pm. Pay rate: $18.00/hour
2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm. Pay rate: $19.08/hour
3rd Shift: 11pm-7am. Pay rate: $19.80/hour

Key responsibilities:

  • Review binding requirements and production sheets for individual jobs.
  • Load, feed, and remove magazine products according to job specifications.
  • Sort mail (domestic, foreign, and Canadian).
  • Monitor the quality of the product, including mailing labels and inkjet.

Bindery Operator

We are seeking a Bindery Operator to be responsible for the set-up and operation of saddlestich and perfect binders, polybagger and mail system equipment. This role is responsible for providing leadership and development to all crew members. Pay rate: Commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all team members understand pertinent quality system standards.
  • Operate equipment at speeds that meet – or exceed – identified production standards, within established safety and quality guidelines and standard operating procedures.
  • Consistently monitor with crew members binding versions and quality of product.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate timely repairs with Supervisor or Manager as necessary.
  • Provide production counts to department supervisor, as well as manage time stamp process, as required.
  • Identify training needs of team members to ensure the success of the individual, as well as the team.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience running bindery equipment
  • Strong mechanical and computer aptitude
  • Experience in Printing and Binding industry is a major plus
  • Effective leader and communicator – responsible for leading small production team

Pressroom Trainee - All Shifts

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals interested in learning to perform technical, manual, and machine tasks in our pressroom. Pressroom Trainees will ensure proper and safe operation of stacker and roll-stand units on web presses and assist in the set-up, maintenance, and operation of the presses. This is an entry-level position, requiring a positive outlook and the ability to work as part of a team. Openings available on all shifts:
1st Shift: 7am-3pm. Pay rate: $18.00/hour
2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm. Pay rate: $19.08/hour
3rd Shift: 11pm-7am. Pay rate: $19.80/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Move finished bundles of printed material from stacker unit to pallet or skid utilizing automatic bundle movers or other provided equipment.
  • Ready plates, paper, ink, and info for each job; assist others on press start-ups; and prepare the correct paper to splice.
  • Communicate effectively with lead press operators, including alerting them to problems.
  • Utilize safety equipment as instructed; identify potential safety hazards.

Press Operator

We are seeking a Press Operator to perform manual and machine operator tasks in the setup, maintenance, and operation of web presses. Pay rate: Commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate press according to job orders.
  • Adjust print quality, registration, and color settings on press.
  • Make final pre-run inspection of each job, providing approval or seeking necessary approval from Head Press Operator.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, and cleaning/adjusting to rollers.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge, technical acumen, knowledge of ink/water balance, and understanding of SWOP and color.
  • Previous press experience
  • Full color vision
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Leadership experience preferred
